LAURA TSAGGARIS
Friday September 3rd
The Canal Room

Born in Reading, Pa. and raised in Pittsburgh, Laura’s early life gave few indications of her eventual calling. She attended The College of William & Mary on a tennis scholarship and graduated with a degree in finance. While working at a Washington, D.C. law firm, Laura started her own record label, Overtime Records, and recorded her first album, Proof, in 2005.

Galvanized by the local, national and international reaction to her debut, Laura quit her job, packed her bags and toured the country alone to promote the record and launch her career as a performer. After the cycle of touring ended in 2008, Laura began work on her second studio album, Keep Talking. From the cautionary "Warning Signs" to the life-affirming "Get Yourself Right" to the hyper-personal "Pilots," Keep Talking is a rare effort that rocks, soothes and inspired The Washington Post to write, "When a singer-songwriter builds an array of songs, often arising from a solid pop foundation with a splash of blues, a touch of rock and a hint of soul, that affirms a genuine musical gift."

Tinderbox Music Festival
Sunday September 26. 3PM – Late
Southpaw

Tinderbox Music Festival, which will be held on September 26, 2010, at Southpaw in Brooklyn, NY, aims to promote and coalesce the music of an eclectic group of approximately 20 female artists who span across the entire musical spectrum. Artists include Bitch, Jenny Owen Youngs, Shilpa Ray and her Happy Hookers, Hank & Cupcakes, and Kalae All Day, all of whom have already confirmed their performances at the festival. Tinderbox fosters community by providing opportunities to perform, collaborate, and connect within the vibrant NYC music scene. By donating 100 % of net proceeds to Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls & Girls Write Now, both organizations involved in helping the next generation of women musicians, Tinderbox strives to ensure that the fire it ignites will long outlive and outgrow the festival itself. Due to the positive feedback that Tinderbox has already accumulated, along with sponsorships from companies such as Venus Zine, BUST Magazine, and ASCAP, the festival is looking to take a showcase to the annual SXSW festival in Texas next March in hopes of garnering enough attention to create a buzz about the second Tinderbox Festival that will be held in 2011.

Tickets $17 Advance/$20 Day of Show. Show starts at 3PM. For more information, visit:
