Angelo Rivera at Large!

Written by Wendy R. Williams

It was June of 2005 and there were a lot of celebrities out “doing” something (or someone) or the other . And New York Cool photographer Angelo Rivera was there for it all, aiming his camera at the movers and shakers of this city.

On June 8 th, Angelo caught up with Colombian pop-rocker Shakira at the Times Square Virgin Megastore, where she was promoting her new CD, Fijacion Oral Vol. 1. Now that title is a mouthful but the girl is simply gorgeous.

Yolanda Vega

Also on June 8 th, Angelo photographed Ellen Barkin and Yolanda Vega (the lottery girl) at the Hunter College commencement ceremony at Radio City Music Hall.

Here is a quote from the Hunter College Website, “During the commencement exercises, President Raab also conferred an honorary doctorate of fine arts on Ellen Barkin, one of the most respected and versatile actresses on the screen. A true product of New York, Barkin was born in the Bronx and raised in Queens. She studied history and drama at Hunter College in the 1970s. Also participating in the graduation ceremony was New York Lottery’s Yolanda Vega, a 1977 alumna of Hunter College. Vega, who majored in economics at Hunter, received the Outstanding Alumna of the Year Award during the ceremony.” Bravo!

Queen Latifah

On June 15 th, it was the “signing” of Queen Latifah’s multi-year contract with Vanity Fair (the lingerie manufacturer). Queen Latifah will be the face (and body) of Vanity Fair’s new Intimate Curvation line for full figured women.

Boyz 2 Men

The on June 20 th, Angelo was up in Harlem for the Apollo Theater Foundation’s spring benefit: The Magic Lives On. There he snapped Boyz 2 Men, Harry Belafonte, Ruby Dee and Vanessa Williams.

On June 23 rd , Angelo was down at 55 Wall Street where he saw Alicia Keys and P. Diddy arrive (separately) for the Cipriani Wall Street concert series (Alicia was performing). Angelo did not get to hear Alicia sing, but we KNOW she looked good.

And that’s it, so until next time, “Smile, you may be on Angelo’s camera.”
